Following a study by the independent watchdog “Transport Focus” involving 9600 visitors being questioned at 111 service stations throughout England in relation to food, drink, cleanliness and friendliness of staff  the best and worst service stations have been revealed.

Norton Canes on the M6 toll road came out top of the pack, and we have to agree that this is one of the best service stations on the motorway network.

At the other end of the spectrum the worst service station was Thurrock on the M25. We can’t comment on this one though as we’ve never stopped off here.

One thing we are certain of though is when you travel in your camper van you always have at your disposal the equipment and space to prepare yourself some food on the go and make a brew. Very handy if you find yourself in one of those less savoury service stations.

If you don’t fancy chancing your arm at one of the many service stations on the motorway network, or utilising the versatility of travelling in a camper van, with a little careful planning ahead you can find some superb pubs that provide great stopping off points for your journey very close to most junctions across the motorway network.
